I just got a text asking why my religious view on facebook was “protestant” and why I had turned my back on God. My Christian upbringing wasn’t influenced by the Roman Catholic Church, and I don’t want the denomination that did influence my relationship with Jesus to limit people’s views of me. So I chose to use a broad term, but apparently people are too ignorant to know what it means, and to lazy to use google to find out.
Protestantism is any of several church denominations denying the universal authority of the Pope and affirming the principles of justification by faith alone priesthood of all believers, and the primacy of the Bible as the only source of revealed truth. Meaning, being protestant means that believe that I don’t need someone else to talk to God for me, that God has forgiven me and declared me sinless, that I was chosen by God for a purpose, and that the Bible is the only real truth.
The most common Protestant secs are Lutheran, Presbyterian, Anglican, Episcopal, Baptist, Calvinists, Methodists, Evangelical Churches and Pentecostals.
I’m sorry if my rant annoyed anyone, I just want to spread some light on the ignorance.
